那是因为同一个英语单词的写法特别是动词有多种，不同的写法表示不同的意思，
比方说，动词后加了s后，表示做这个动作的人是除你我以外的第三方，并且是单数，即第三人称单数，
在“In the evening he often reads newspaper. ”中，做read动作的人，是“he”是第三人称并且是单数，所以要写成“reads”，这就是语法中所说的“动词的第三人称单数形式”
同样在“ She likes playing football. ”中做"like"这个动作的人是she，也是第三人称并且是单数，所以应该写成“likes”
而play在这里表示的是动作like的对象，所以写的时候应加ing，表示这个动词同时当名词用。这就是语法里所说的“非谓语动词”

第一个意思是碎片，第二个是书面用语，至遗弃的零碎的垃圾、废物等东西。
animal debris是指动物排遗物，简单来说就是动物粪便了，但是我认为准确地还应该包括呼出的二氧化碳、动物死后的遗骸等。
